The second question that I receive from women the most when doing their makeup, is how to get full pouty lips. Ever since Angelina Jolie came on the scene a few years back. it has become one of the main focal points that most women desire. "How to create the illusion of bigger fuller lips for longer than an evening or a day." Still have a question? Ask it in the Cosmetic Surgery forumTo obtain lips that are full and plumper for a longer period of time, would require you to visit your local Cosmetic Surgeon. Now, for the purpose of this article I must say that I did go and try the cosmetic method, mainly because I want to know what I am talking about when I talk to my clients and because I wanted to have the experience to share with you all. It was several months ago that I searched and located a doctor. I did some research and decided on one doctor in particular. I must stop here and say that if you are considering a semi-permanent solution such as this one, please do research, find a doctor, ask for a list of clients who have had the procedure that you are wanting and then make a informed decision. Restylane is only available through a licensed practitioner. After finding the doctor I made my appointment. I am very satisfied with my lips but really like the illusion of fuller pouty lips. You and I can create this look using the many lip-plumping products out now, without having to resort to this method. But in order to have a sustained look, surgical intervention is needed. Back to my visit. It was very clinical and the women there were very nice; the receptionist was an older lady and I could tell that she was a spokesperson for cosmetic surgery. She had a face lift and eye lift and several other procedures but she looked good. I filled out the forms and was shown to the room where she preceded to question me about my health and allergies, family history etc She left the room and told me that the doctor would be coming in and gave me an ice pack to put on my lips, to numb the area to be filled. Using the ice pack was very uncomfortable to me because after awhile it was more of a icy-burning effect, so I put the ice pack down. I was left to read several pamphlets on fillers used for this procedure and because I had done my research I decided on a filler known as Restylane. My reason for this choice is because Restylane can last up to 6 months, and there are no animal products used in the making of Restylane. It is a dermal filler that restores the volume and fullness to your skin. It is fully biocompatible and therefore does not require an allergy test which is a plus. Not only can Restylane be used on the lips but pretty much anywhere on the face, and it is FDA APPROVED. Restylane keeps its shape by using your bodys own moisture. These facts where good for me to know going into this procedure, it made me more reassured of the outcome. The doctor came in the room and when he noticed that I had put the ice pack down, he proceeded to have me place it back on. At this point while I was sitting in the chair I noticed on the table next to me that the nurse that accompanied him had placed what seem to be the biggest needle to me on the table. I immediately thought to myself "oh my what have I done"; I really don’t like needles. The doctor took the icepack and gave me a mirror and asked me how BIG I wanted my lips to be, whether I wanted to do both lips or just one lip. Examining myself in the mirror I really did not know what I wanted so I just said I would like them just to be a little fuller, to be in proportion with my face. With that said he reached over and picked up the syringe and started with my lower lip first. IT HURT,–yes readers it does hurt–not to the point of being unbearable but there is a price to pay for BIGGER, PLUMPER LIPS that last for about 6 months,–yes about 6 months and then you must go back. The suggested time for retouching your bigger plumper lips is twice a year. After it was all said and done, I must admit that I really liked the results. I no longer needed to use lip plumpers to get that fuller look, and I could put on my lipstick or lipgloss without using any extra cosmetic techniques to make them appear fuller–they were fuller. The procedure was not at all long, Over time they will reduce in size, thus the need for going back; remember this is just a semi-permanent solution for fuller lips. The procedure is a little costly as well–it was not cheap to have this done, but I do recommend it to anyone who has really thin lips and you want some fullness. Price is based upon your individual needs and will vary according to how much the doctor uses to achieve the look you desire. A little word of advice here, please don’t go with the intention to come out with Angelina Jolie or Scarlett Johansson lips. If you were not born with these features then it most likely won’t look natural on you. Go for the size that will match the beautiful features of your face and enhance your natural beauty, if you approach it with this mind set then you will be pleased with your results and that is really all that matters when it comes to cosmetic procedures. Stick to the natural you as much as possible and you will look and feel great. As for me I am definitely going back in 6 months. It was well worth the sacrifice of money and pain.
